During the vulcanization process, free sulfur is released, and compared to normal sulfur, the sulfur donor mainly forms mono-sulfur and di-sulfur bonds. Due to their higher bond energies, these di-sulfur bonds exhibit stronger resistance to reversion, imparting excellent heat aging resistance to vulcanized rubber.
